Finally – Shopping and Paying Online with Home Delivery in Ghana

by Jerome Kuseh

Ever since online shopping became popular in Ghana with the success of Google Trader, there has been several clones seeking to grab a slice of the thriving industry. The increase in online shopping portals however, has not addressed the primary problem and the biggest barrier to the greater adoption of online shopping – the inability to pay online.

This barrier necessitates the physical meeting of the buyer and seller in order to make payment and exchange the product. A friend of mine was the victim of a confidence trickster who had him bring two brand new smartphones to a location and bolted with the smartphones under the pretext of showing them to another person.
Needless to say, there is great potential for an online shopping portal that collects payment online and delivers through a trusted courier service. Well, we have one now – rmart.com.gh
The absence of PayPal in Ghana makes it difficult to be part of the global online shopping, but with rmart, we have a refreshing new alternative. Choose your items and pay with VISA cards, ATM card, MasterCard and every other electronically enabled payment platform in Ghana today and have them delivered by EMS. The reliable courier service has long operated in Ghana and has no trouble picking out locations even with the lack of a standard addressing system. In order to preserve the anonymity of the bank account details of customers, rmart will issue branded cards to customers.
The portal itself is easy to use. There are options to become a vendor, to search an item, to subscribe for newsletters, and to see products within a particular price range. The range of items are impressive. From clothes to office supplies, wine to sex toys, rmart has the lot. The major draw for me however, is the peace of mind I’ll have knowing that I wouldn’t have to go meet anyone to complete a transaction, and the days of exposing myself to risk of theft and fraud are gladly behind me.
Have you ever tried shopping with rmart? What was the experience like? Do leave your experiences in the comments.
