Latest economic figures for Ghana – January 2020

  1. GDP growth rate was 5.6% for Q3 2019.
  2. Inflation for 2019 was 7.9%.
  3. Monetary policy rate is 16%.
  4. Interbank lending rate was 15.20% as at December 2019.
  5. Average lending rate was 23.59% as at December 2019.
  6. Total Exports for 2019 was US$15.6 billion. Gold Exports US$6.2 billion (40%). Cocoa Exports US$2.2 billion (14%). Oil Exports US$4.5 billion (29%).
  7. Total Imports for 2019 was US$13.3 billion. Oil imports is US$2.3 billion (17%).
  8. Trade surplus for 2019 was US$2.3 billion (3.4% of GDP).
  9. Current account deficit for 2019 was US$1.7 billion (2.5% of GDP).
  10. Budget deficit (on cash basis) was 4.8% of GDP for 2019.
  11. External debt as at November 2019 was GH¢111.9bn (32.4% of GDP).
  12. Domestic debt as at November 2019 was GH¢102.9bn (29.8% of GDP).
  13. Total Public debt as at November 2019 was GH¢214.9bn (62.1% of GDP).
  14. Non-Performing loans (of banks) as at December 2019 was 13.9%.
  15. Active mobile money accounts were 14.5 million as at December 2019.
  16. Market capitalisation of the GSE was GH¢56.8 billion as at December 2019.
