Latest economic figures for Ghana – March 2021

  1. GDP growth rate for Q3 2020 was -1.1%.
  2. Inflation as at February 2020 was 10.3%.
  3. Monetary policy rate is 14.5%.
  4. Interbank lending rate was 13.56% as at February 2021.
  5. Average lending rate was 21.02% as at February 2021.
  6. Total Exports as at February 2021 was US$2.54 billion. Gold Exports US$931 million (37%). Cocoa Exports US$657 million (26%). Oil Exports US$506 million (20%).
  7. Total Imports as at February 2021 was US$2.2 billion. Oil imports is US$357 million (16%).
  8. Trade surplus as at February 2021 was US$340 million (0.5% of GDP).
  9. Current account deficit for 2020 was US$2.14 billion (3.2% of GDP).
  10. Budget deficit in 2020 was 11.7% of GDP.
  11. External debt as at December 2020 was GH¢141.8bn (37% of GDP).
  12. Domestic debt as at December 2020 was GH¢149.8bn (39.1% of GDP).
  13. Total Public debt as at December 2020 was GH¢291.6bn (76.1% of GDP).
  14. Non-Performing loans (of banks) as at February 2021 was 15.3%.
  15. Active mobile money accounts were 17.5 million as at February 2021.
  16. Market capitalisation of the GSE was GH¢57.2 billion as at February 2021.
