My name is Princess Amdiya Burland but a lot of people call me Ama Burland.
Tell us all about Ayuverda’s Hair Care Products.
Ayuverda’s products are Indian medical treatments for hair, skin and human consumption. Some popular ones for hair are henna, alma, shikakai and hibiscus flower(sobolo). I came across the use of ayuverda herbs to boost hair growth and help solve hair issues around 2 or 3 years ago through a popular YouTuber in the natural hair community called curly proverbs and trust me, it is the best decision I have ever made for my hair.
What gave you the idea for the business?
I made a YouTube video on how I make my hair growth oil and some people mentioned being lazy and that I should make it for them. That is how it started.
Did you tell people about your idea? How did they receive it?
No, I did not. Honestly, I just do stuff if it fails it fails if it succeeds then good news. I do not ask for opinions; I just go got it.
What kind of market did you have in mind for your product?
The average person, I just want everyone to be able to afford my products.
How difficult was it to start?
It was not exceedingly difficult because I had already built trust from people because I usually gave free hair tips and I always spoke about natural hair growth way before I started selling the products.
What challenges do you face on a day-to-day basis?
Unreliable suppliers and impatient customers.
How do you market your business?
Through influencers and Instagram ads. I also talk about it every opportunity I get.
What has the response to your products been so far?
It has been great; God has been good. I am forever grateful.
Do you have any employees? What does someone have to do to work with you?
Yes, I do. I have 4 employees so far. Three are family members and the fourth is my sister’s friend. You should be hard working because the job is hard.
How does entrepreneurship compare to a regular job?
I have not had a regular job before. I am still a student so I cannot compare for now maybe when I start my service I will know.
What have you learnt about running a business that no one could have told you before you started?
That you can be suicidal lol.
What can government do to help young entrepreneurs?
They should create job opportunities for those who love 9-5 and give them good salaries so they can purchase from entrepreneurs lol.
Any advice to other entrepreneurs or would-be entrepreneurs?
Brace yourself people have no patience, so pray for the patience.
