Latest economic figures for Ghana – May 2021

  1. Provisional GDP growth rate for 2020 was 0.4%.
  2. Inflation as at April 2021 was 8.5%.
  3. Monetary policy rate is 14.5%.
  4. Interbank lending rate was 13.6% as at April 2021.
  5. Average lending rate was 20.9% as at April 2021.
  6. Total Exports as at April 2021 was US$5.13 billion. Gold Exports US$1.8 billion (35%). Cocoa Exports US$1.2 billion (24%). Oil Exports US$1.14 billion (22%).
  7. Total Imports as at April 2021 was US$4.37 billion. Oil imports was US$705 million (16%).
  8. Trade surplus as at April 2021 was US$759 million (1% of GDP).
  9. Current account deficit for as at March 2021 was US$370.9 million (0.5% of GDP).
  10. Budget deficit as at March 2021 was 2.6% of GDP.
  11. External debt as at March 2021 was GH¢141bn (32.5% of GDP).
  12. Domestic debt as at March was GH¢163.6bn (37.7% of GDP).
  13. Total Public debt as at March 2021 was GH¢304.6bn (70.2% of GDP).
  14. Non-Performing loans (of banks) as at April 2021 was 15.5%.
  15. Active mobile money accounts were 17.2 million as at April 2021.
  16. Market capitalisation of the GSE was GH¢60.8 billion as at April 2021.
