Duo Concept Foundation, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to empowering young people through community projects and engagement, in partnership with The Trust Hospital, has screened 151 girls and teachers at the South Labone Girls Vocational Training and Correctional Centre in Accra for breast cancer.
The exercise, held as part of activities marking Breast Cancer Awareness Month, formed part of the Foundation’s community support programme aimed at promoting early detection and encouraging young women to take charge of their health.
During the screening, seven girls were identified with suspicious lumps and have been scheduled to undergo ultrasound scans for further medical assessment. The findings do not constitute a cancer diagnosis, but the follow-up scans will help determine the appropriate next steps.

Participants were also educated on breast health, including how to conduct regular self-examination and the importance of seeking medical attention when they notice unusual changes.
Breast cancer remains one of the leading cancers affecting women. Health experts continue to emphasise early detection and timely treatment significantly improve outcomes and survival.
Duo Concept Foundation said it would continue partnering with health institutions to provide essential healthcare services and education to children and young people in underserved communities.
